Vermont Medical Marijuana law requires all qualifying patients to register with the Department of Public Safety. Individuals who do not register may not be provided protection from arrest and prosecution. To register with the state, the following items must be submitted: completed application, a $50 check or money order to cover the annual application fee, and a digital photograph--submitted in .jpeg format on a CD or floppy disk--to be used on your registration card. All applications must be submitted to:

Individuals wishing to register as Caregivers must submit the caregiver application along with a digital photo, and a check/money order for $50 to the address above.

Qualifying medical conditions under Medical Marijuana Vermont law include:

  • Cancer
  • AIDS/HIV
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Cachexia
  • Severe Pain
  • Severe Nausea
  • Seizures/Epilepsy

Vermont Medical Marijuana possession limits are 2 ounces of usable cannabis and 2 mature, and seven immature plants.

Medical Marijuana law in Vermont does not require insurance companies to reimburse any expenses related to the cultivation or consumption of medical marijuana. As with all other states, no employer or housing authority is required to tolerate the consumption of cannabis by their employees or residents.
