Arizona Law Makers Respond With Additional Legislation
In response to the recent passage of Medical Marijuana Arizona law by the voters, the Arizona House of Representatives approved a bill to further facilitate drug testing.
No doubt in response to concerns from businesses over the gray-area involving Medical Marijuana use and the workplace, Arizona house overwhelming approved a bill which enables employers to take action against employees suspected of being impaired at the workplace--whether legally or illegally. The bill was backed by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The bill further stipulates that if employers act in good faith against employees suspected of performing their employment activities with signs of impairment; employers may be afforded some legal and punitive protection from lawsuits.
The bill sailed through the Arizona House with a 56-3 vote.
