A Medical Marijuana First In Maine

The start of 2011 say a new first for the state of Maine: a Medical Marijuana Expo. The expo, which was held in the city of Portland played host to pro Medical Marijuana groups, and provided resources for caregivers and growers, as well as patients.

While the vast majority of the attendees were in support of Maine Medical Marijuana use, opinions of some varied on the actual Medical Marijuana Maine Law currently in place. Some believe that the law has helped the progression of Maine Medical Marijuana by bringing attention to the topic through media and other outlets. However, some still believe that the law is too restrictive and causes the costs of the medicine to increase.

Also in attendance at the expo was State Representative Barney Frank who spoke out against the current Maine Medical Marijuana Law. The Representative believes the current laws against Medical Marijuana in Maine should be repealed and revised.
