"Junior" Cannabis Card

Well, this is not a very common question but I need an answer. I have heard of "junior" club cards before, and I am trying to see if it is true. I have depression that is very burdensome and at sometimes debilitating. I am currently 15 years old, and this is a serious question. I live in California if that makes a difference. I have heard that you can obtain one of these if it is not smoked marijuana, but only edibles. The reason why I am looking for this is not to use it recreationally or to give to my friends. I have a serious problem with other anti depressants that are out there. Most anything synthetic is very, well, sketch to me. Most anti depressants really make you different, like they change you. I really hate being on those, if you know anyone who takes medication for things like this or ADD or something know what I am talking about. I know marijuana is not like this because I used to smoke it. At first it was the regular "teenage thing" once in a while, but I soon learned the medicinal purposes. In addition to depression I have Tinnitus which gives me a great deal of anxiety, which is how I learned the medicinal side. I smoked when I was very anxious and I felt so much better. I then tried it while I was very depressed to see what would happen, and sure enough it helped. It was by far the best "cure" for it. I was caught by my parents with it and have not smoked in 6 months. I have been trying to cope by doing things such as meditation, and outlets (such as drawing, working out, water polo, ect.) I did these activities before, while, and after I smoke, and they worked to an extent. Nothing worked as well as marijuana. Please help, any suggestions, or comments. Please take this seriously. I will be seeing a doctor soon, but I wanted to do this as a precursor. My mother has agreed to marijuana use only in a legal way. Her problem with it before was that it was illegal, and her brother had an addiction problem. So if you wondered why. I would really appreciate advice, even if this is not possible. (i.e alternatives). Thanks |

Comments (2)You should keep on talking to your mother about this. The fact she understands it's OK medically is more than half the battle for you. If your mother only experiences you better while on marajuana and is open to the topic you should pursue this. She may help you obtain your licence. If you apply for a licence at 15 you probably require your parent(s) help.
Keep communications open with your mother. That's usually good advice.
I agree that legitamite juvenile patients should be allowed access to medical marijuana, just as prescription drugs are prescribed to children and teens for anti-anxiety and ADHD. I'm unsure of the provisions of the law in your state, but seeing as California was the first, and continues to be the most progressive of states on the issue, your odds of obtaining some type of certification, are better than those for people who live out of state. The fact that you are not seeking out cannabis to smoke, but instead to consume (which is the best way to inconspicuously medicate, and can even be done in public, as no one would be the wiser) illustrates the fact that you are in need of the medicine for legitamite reasons.
I'm not advocating circumventing the law, but if your mother obtains a caregiver certification, she would have the right to grow plants thereby granting you private access to medicine, especially since at the age of 15, your mom is still cooking your meals (for the most part) so she would be growing, harvesting and preparing the medicine for you, thereby monitoring dosage to ensure safe medication.
With Prop 19 and full decriminalization being strongly supported on the November ballot, if you can hold out for a few more months, you may just be able to obtain cannabis (via your mother or other guardian of legal age) at your corner store.
