My First Experience With a MM Clinic

I don’t know about you but my first experience going to a Medical Marijuana Clinic and going through the State required process of obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card didn’t go the way I expected it to. After doing hours of what I thought was fair due diligence on the new laws and regulations pertaining to obtaining an MMC I finally decided to give it a go, seeking a professional and friendly clinic that would not only have its own Dr. on site but also include the option of purchasing MM from their dispensary/care giver. After locating their website I simply filled out some brief information to schedule an appointment. With in minutes I received a phone call from the clinic. The caller identified himself belonging to the clinic and asked if an appointment with their Dr. for the upcoming Saturday at 9:15 A.M. would work for me, I quickly agreed and the very professional sounding young man said he would email me with a confirmation of the appointment and include directions to the clinic. Again, with in a few short minutes an email with all the information as said. Directions were great, took me right in front of the address. Although it was downtown Denver I had little worries having spent my entire life in Colorado. The only difficult part getting there was this set of wheels that are permanently attached to my ass got stuck in the street gutter ice crossing the damn street. Reach the door to the clinic and rang the bell as instructed and waited about 30 seconds before a grizzly looking guy with a smile opened the door to the four or five of us who were waiting outside while the sweet aroma of freshly smoked MM drifted about the doorway. The front office, if you want to call it one, was small in size but had the high ceilings that most of the old Victorian buildings do downtown, nice and quaint. A diverse collection of people from different parts of Colorado quietly chatted about the tightly cramped front office trying to shield their eyes from the morning sun that was shining brightly through the large windows and directly into the entire area. There were people/patients standing about due to the limited space and chairs. I felt very cramped and stuffy, not the place for those who suffer from tight quarters or anxiety problems. I noticed it was organized kayos among those running the show. With repeated instructions on how to fill out the paper work by several mid to late twenty year old gentlemen wearing dress slacks and ties. Finally, my turn to see the Dr., I was led to a small waiting area the size of a large closet and as dark as one. In five minutes I was led to another door where the Dr. himself sat behind a very small desk that looked like you could pick up at your local five and dime store for $10. He asked what my main health issues were so I showed him my blackened lower right leg that has me taking two hundred milligrams of morphine every single day for nine years now. He said he recognized my problem and was familiar to the treatments I had received which saved my right leg from amputation but left me with a life of unbearable pain, thus my seeking a better method of treatment and my entire reasoning for being at the clinic. He actually said to me, “OK, I’ll just sign here and keep this copy for my records and there you go, all done”. It took longer for me to get my wheelchair in that tiny, tiny closet converted into the Dr.s office than it did to be evaluated. Hell, I was still telling him about my problems when he looked at me and said he was done and I was approved for the use of MM. I was like, wha, wha, what, thats it? “Yes Sir” he replied, “thats it”. Wow! I’m approved, now what? I was asked if I wanted to visit their dispensary. Sure why not, thats why I’m here right. Well, in another very small room and just as dimly lit as the Dr.s exam room. One rather tall lawyer looking guy welcomed me to the dispensary and started showing me the only two strains of MM they had and while I looked and marveled at seeing and smelling such quality MM the lawyer type guy explained that by purchasing more in quantity the price drops so I thought what the heck, give me an ounce of the Indica and a half once of the Sativa strain. I about shit my pants when he said the total $550 total and that was with a 25% discount for signing their guy up as my caregiver. So I asked about the 25% and he said yes, thats with the discount. So that tells me the total without discount was $735 for an ounce and a half plus the $160 for the Dr. and his so called exam. What a frickin rip off, on the street I could purchase the same amount for less than $500. So I tried to email the clinic to have them explain to me why I paid so much. They never replied. This clinic and my experience with them is exactly what we don’t need in MM reform or the industry. The only good thing about my experience was the quality of MM I purchased, it works to ease my pain levels and has allowed me to taper off the morphine under my pain specialists guidance.
